5 DIY Pillow Ideas That Can Help You To Create A New Look In Minutes

Have you ever been bored with your living room decor (or any room design for that matter) and
wished you could change it up right away? Your room may require a new style, or some of your
ornamental elements may require a fashion update. Changing or upgrading your throw pillows is the
simplest way to freshen up a room.
Throw pillows can instantly change the style of a room, whether
you want to add something seasonal or switch to a more modern or less modern look. You can build
the pillows that will help you achieve any impression you want, from playful patterns and phrases to
painted art and delicate textural textures.
Pillows are considerably easy to make than you may think,
and you don’t even need to know how to sew to make some fantastic ones. In just 15 minutes, you
can create your own DIY accent pillow covers over your old pillows or anti-snore pillows and get away
from that old style!
Pillows can significantly transform the appearance of a room. And rather than purchasing new pricey
pillows for each season and/or holiday, you may take a pillow insert and sew pillow covers for it, then
switch out the pillow covers. This will free up a lot of storage space.
How to Make Simple Pillow Covers at Home:
Measure the size of your pillow insert.
Cut out the front panel of your pillow cover after measuring your pillow form. Also,
cut out the pillow cover’s rear panels.
Cut off the front panel of your pillow cover, adding 1 inch to the width and height to account for
seam allowance, and cut out the material.
For both panels, please measure the width of the front pillow cover, divide it in half, and add three
inches to the total. If you have an 18 by 18 cushion, add an inch for the seam allowance, making the
width 19 inches and the width of each back 12.5 inches.
There will only be ONE piece of fabric for the
front of the pillow. The rear of the insert will be made up of TWO pieces of cloth. These TWO fabric
panels will have the same height as the front, but the width will have a three-inch overlap, which will
maintain the pillow form inside the pillow cover.
Sew the back panels’ seams together.
Fold the seam twice to make a neat seam by taking the length of each of the overlapping panels.
Sew the back panels’ seams together.
Sew the front and back panels together with a needle and thread.
With the right sides facing inward, pin the back panels to the front panels. Then sew around the
pillow cover. For added durability, backstitch over each seam. Place the pillow insert inside and turn it
right side out.
Below I am explaining some of the DIY pillow covers to make your room look different. These are only
a few ideas; you can create thousands of throw pillows and covers with your creativity and
imagination
DIY Reading Pillow
Because reading pillows feature a pocket to hold your book and a handle to carry it about, they have
become fairly popular. When combined with a children’s book, this is a fantastic gift for children or
yourself. When you want to store your current book in your pillow, it’s ideal. That way, it won’t get
lost among the stacks and stacks of books you have at home. You can add some personality to your
area while still keeping it functional! It’s like having the best of both worlds!
Sweater Pillows
Upcycle an old sweater to add warmth to your home throughout the winter months. It’s a super-
cheap method to turn an unloved sweater into a decorative pillow for your house. Add a button in the
middle or leave the top open with a few buttons for a fun twist.
This is a fantastic method to re-purpose outdated sweaters. Make various add-on to get additional
usage out of the sweater, like cuffs and sleeves.
DIY Pom Pom Pillows
Because each pom pom on this DIY pillow is handmade, it takes a bit longer to get started. This is the
way to go if you want to be fancy.
This is a fantastic style for youngsters and younger children, and they can even assist you in creating
it! To personalize a plain pillow cover, all you need is a foam brush, fabric paint, and some yarn for the
tassels.
With a touch of tassels, these pillows are incredibly lovely. Tassels are simple to make and make a
a fantastic touch to your porch furniture or even indoors!
Heart-Shaped Pillow

With these adorable heart-shaped pillows, you can increase the romance factor in your house. Sew
around the heart cushion with the free pattern or freehand the design, then turn it around and stuff
with poly-fill! They look great together, so mix up the sizes and make a group of two or three to wow
everyone who comes into your home!
No-Sew Pillow
This is my fave. Another plus is that these pillows are “no-sew,” making them easier to make for
beginners. These pillows will undoubtedly spice up your living space. They are very easy to make. Just
cut the fabric strips and weave them together to create different designs with different patterns,
colors, textures to create aesthetically appealing pillows to change the decor of the room in just no
time and without all the hassles.
