An awesome DIY pencil holder and How to make it

(Last Updated On: May 6, 2021)

Hello, everyone, and welcome to my latest post. Well, there is a lot to talk about it in this post. I got an awesome DIY project that I will show you guys too. If you follow me on social media, I had to disappear for a little white and get myself together. And during my absence, I wasn’t just lying on my bed. I did a lot of things and I’m going to talk about the main and important things. This is An awesome DIY pencil holder and How to make it.

Before going into the post and show you guys this awesome DIY pencil holder. I would like to announce and mention some things. So please stick until I begin the post or you can skip right to the post. For those who been following for a while or like to know what happened. I’m going to talk about it and explain quickly.

The schedule

So first I’m going to start with the most important point which is how the schedule will be and what did I change. I used to do 3 and 2 posts each week. It’s always fun working with that but things got out of control and started to pile up. And that won’t be good for me and won’t allow me to keep going.

During the time I was away from the internet, I was studying a way to fix and keep the schedule going. However, it doesn’t seem possible for now. For that, I decided that I’m going to go with one post a week for now until I manage to control and put more content.

I don’t want to make a schedule and can’t stick to it. And doing DIY projects takes a lot of time and effort. This another reason why I can’t get content quickly. From this post forward, I’m going to post once a week until things are better. I was really enjoying making content 3 days a week.

The timing of the post will be different than I usually post. I’m going to post every week on Monday at 3:30 AM EST. Well, before it was three times a week and at 9:30 AM EST. And it wasn’t the best time to post since everyone will be at work at that time.

For this week, this post will be posted today and starting from next week. I’m going to start with the new schedule that I just mentioned in this segment. And moving forward, it will be like that until everything gets better as I said. And I make sure that I don’t get overwhelmed or run out of ideas lol

Updating the blog

Well, having one post a week doesn’t mean that I will get more time to rest. I’m going to work on updating my old posts and improve SEO and mistakes. And doing a lot of things that I wasn’t able to do when working with 3 posts a week. Once I build a team and things get better. The old schedule will be resumed and I will be sharing a lot of content here.

I’ve also updated my about page and added more details about what I’m going to post and organized it a little better. If you are new here and want to know more about this blog, you can head to the about page in the top menu bar and check it out. Or if you here and curious what I added haha.

About the awesome DIY pencil holder

Now that I talked about the important things. It’s time to start the post and show you guys what is this awesome DIY pencil holder all about. This project was made during my absence from the internet. And since I already made a few of the pencil holders before. I thought to go easy on this but also useful and different. Something different with a new style that I haven’t done it before.

This awesome DIY pencil holder is made of easy to get materials that you might have already at home, how crazy is that? Well, keep reading to know what materials and requirements are needed for this awesome DIY pencil holder. And you can make for yourself something very useful without spending a lot of money.

You won’t spend a lot of time on this project either. Some people don’t like to spend a lot of time on things like these. So before talking about it. Don’t worry, it will be a useful project and in a short time. If you want to know how to make this awesome DIY pencil holder. Please keep reading until the end.

Just an extra note before I start. It’s might be for pencils but this also can be for your makeup brushes or pens as long as it’s long and similar objects to pencils. Because obviously, if it won’t fit, why even think of making it, you know haha.

The basic Requirements

  1. A4 white papers
  2. Ruler
  3. Pencil
  4. Colored papers(Red, blue)
  5. Glue gun
  6. Cardboard

Before talking about the project. I just mentioned the material and required tools to work on this project and make it as good as possible. Well, as you can see above, the list is as easy and simple as it could be. You might already have these at home.

It’s been a while since I used the thick papers but if you want to replace it with the A4 paper for more strength, That would be awesome. However, A4 would do the job well to add the white layer to the awesome DIY pencil holder. Just in case you wonder or have a question about it.

The required items:

The sides walls 7cm – 17cm

The first step is going to be getting the main parts of this awesome DIY pencil holder. Which will be cardboard and I mentioned the measures for each piece. A new way of sharing information about the main parts of this DIY project. This is like the 1000th way I write the DIY projects haha. Always try new ways and see what works best and provide information in a good way.

Make sure the cardboard is not that thick. Because adding the white layer will be trouble for you unless you know how to do it with that. I never talk about this in my previous posts. But now I think it’s better to share with you guys all the important details and everything you need to know.

Well, I might not share all the steps here but obviously, I used the pencil and ruler to measure the main parts and have them as you can see in the pictures above.

The white layer

If you are new to the blog, I usually add a white layer using A4 papers or thick papers. And for this awesome DIY pencil holder, I used A4 papers. Because I have had A4 papers for a long time and now I’m just trying to use them as much as I can and finish them haha.

Also, I would recommend thick papers only if you don’t have A4 papers or if it’s a really important project. Because they do look better and make it look like you painted it haha. That was the reason why I used to use them for many crafty projects before.

Here how it looks after adding the white layer to the main parts for this awesome DIY pencil holder. Now it’s like I just painted it and ready for any decoration once everything glued together. Well, with thick papers, it would look even better, you know. But you will see in a bit what I’m going to do. Please keep reading to see how everything will turn out.

The important thing about the white layer is when adding it to the parts, it might change measures and you need to carefully add the layer. This might take you time to get it back if you not being careful with it. For one project, I spent like two hours trying to get the right measurements after adding the white layer because I didn’t measure the white layer good.

The awesome DIY pencil holder get together

Now I glue the sides, and front, and back together to see how this awesome DIY pencil holder will look like when I do this step. This holder will have two open from the top and long to store pencils, pens, brushes, or anything as long as it has the same length as the pencil. If you have something longer to store, you can adjust the sides and front and back measures to make it fit.

Well after gluing all the main parts, as you can see in the pictures above. However, I’m not yet done because it still looks a bit messy, you know. I actually fixed the measures of the front side. I didn’t think it would be longer than the pencils. So I had to fix it and make it as long as the pencils.

There might be some changes or I added some things, but what you will see is everything you need to do. You don’t have to keep changing. This tutorial will help you to make an awesome DIY pencil holder. And not that many things to do but to add the decorations and some touches after this.

Decorations

Well, for decoration I use the ones shown in the picture above. That’s why you will need red and blue papers. You can use normal colored papers or thick papers. As long as it has the perfect measures, that would do just perfectly. Also, if you have any other ideas for decoration, you could add them to this awesome DIY pencil holder.

Before adding the decorations, I added another white layer to all the sides just to make sure that everything looks as perfect as possible. However, if you are using white thick paper, you don’t have to add another layer because it would be enough and look good.

Well, here is how the finished look of this awesome DIY pencil holder. I have other ones that have a drawer but this time I thought to make it without it. Well, for me this is different, haha but if you want a drawer, you could check my other posts. So that how I wanted this awesome DIY pencil holder to be.

As you can see the second layer made it look better and with the red on the edges, it looks even better. If you make it for yourself, you could change colors to your favorite colors. That would be even cooler. Or maybe a friend or someone you love.

After gluing everything as you see in the picture above. You got yourself an awesome DIY pencil holder that will help you to organize pencils or even colored pencils. A reminder, this also can be for pens or makeup brushes as long as it has the same length as pencils.

Important points and tips for this awesome DIY pencil holder

If it’s shorter, you will struggle of getting them out of the holder and might break it trying to pull it out haha. So that’s why measurement is really important in this case. At least the front side shouldn’t be longer than the objects that will put inside the holder, you know.

Something about these holders, when the pencils gets smaller, you can’t put them inside the holder because then like I said, you won’t be able to get them easily lol. I’ve had this problem and I don’t want you guys do the same mistake.

Also, when gluing, you need to make sure that you put enough glue but not too much. Because glue guns ruin everything when putting more than needed. After it gets colder, it will be difficult to remove it which then makes the project not be as good as you want it to be. You can also notice this on the edges. Because they look a bit messy from the glue but I did what I could to fix it.

The project made out of paper and cardboard and like any plastic or wooden pencil holder. It could break or get ruined if not taking care of it really well. Especially, when kids around, they could mess it up with colored pencils and that’s something we want, you know. Make sure to put extra care into this awesome DIY pencil holder after you get done making it. It will allow you to use it for a long time.
