Hello everyone, and welcome to a new post and a new week. I hope you guys had a wonderful weekend. Today I would like to talk about blogging. It’s been a while since I shared anything about this niche on my blog. Sometimes I feel like a lot of people are talking about and it’s hard to talk about any blogging stuff. However, I would like to share how to choose the right plugin for your blog.
I’ve had this title on my list for a while. And finally, I decided to share my perspective on it. What I usually do to get plugins for my blog. How do I know what the right plugin is for my blog? Well, I will cover as many as possible in this post. Hopefully, you guys find it helpful.
How to choose the right plugin for your blog

Well, if you don’t know what a plugin is, I am assuming that you already know, unless you are not using WordPress. They are add-ons or software that bloggers could download and we use them to help us with blogging stuff. Like blog layout control and adding things to the blog, such as subscription boxes, etc.
I don’t know if you can find them on other blogging platforms. but mostly plugins that can be found on WordPress. And what I will mention only applies to people who use it for their blogs. Because I haven’t used any platform other than WordPress, which has plugins.
When I say the right plugin, I mean something that you will make good use of them. And download it for nothing. Also, something that doesn’t hurt your blog. Because if you don’t know by now, there are a lot of plugins on the market.
You don’t want to keep downloading and deleting plugins. because some plugins don’t delete all the files. And that will slow your server’s responses. This is something I’ve struggled with a lot before and had to go through the server to delete the unwanted files.
Now, I carefully download a plugin and follow these tips on how to choose the right plugin for your blog. Hopefully, you guys will find it helpful as well. As long as you are using WordPress, it will be good to follow these.
Plugins make blogging so easy for you. If you are thinking of moving to WordPress, I would highly recommend that you do it as soon as possible. But, if you are happy with the platform you are using. That’s good, and it’s not necessary to move.
Also, I highly recommend that you spend some time before downloading any plugins. Avoid the struggle to clean your server and delete plugins all the time. Sometimes you will have two good plugins but only one will work for you. And when I say it works for you, I mean it has the features that you want and is easy for you.
1. Understand and read about plugins
The first and most important one is to understand and read how to choose the right plugin for your blog. You will need to spend time reading about the plugin. But that’s not all. Because that’s the only one that will be downloaded.
How do you know if other plugins are good for your blog? Well, there are two ways I will mention in this list. One of them is this one, and that is reading about plugins. You can find a lot of blogs explaining more about the plugins and talking about them.
It’s a great way to get familiar with the plugins that are on the market. And why do you need to get it for your blog? I’ve followed this way and got new ones that I didn’t even know were options for me to download haha.
When you have a specific plugin on your mind. Don’t forget to understand and read more about it. This way, you will be sure that nothing is wrong with it. Assuming that you know a little about it. And read more about it. It will give you a good idea of whether to download it or not.
Plugins are important and sensitive. Therefore, it’s worth it that you spend time reading more about it before downloading it.
2. Determine what your blog needs
Well, the first one on this list of how to choose the right plugin for your blog. That is a way to find plugins for your blog. Another way would be that you determine what your blog needs. Because sometimes we know what we want.

However, it would still be important to learn more about it. But, this could be a good way to know what the right plugin is for your blog. That will help you to manage the blog or make it easy for you to edit or do anything for the blog.
This will help you in searching for the right plugin. Also, when you explore the market, you will be able to know where to look. Instead of wasting so much time trying to find a plugin for your blog. So, take some time to determine what your blog needs.
It’s also about you as a blogger. Some plugins are only made for you. Such plugins help you connect to social media or SEO tools. If you know what to download, it will save you so much time. And just learn a little more about it before downloading it.
3. Check how often the plugin is updated
You will need to check this for all the plugins. If they stopped updating the plugin or haven’t updated it for a long time, I would never trust it. Because I want something that is still active and the provider is still updating it.
If they stop updating the plugin. This means it could have problems with your WordPress version. The files will be scuffed. And it will make it harder for you to work properly on the blog. I always like to keep the plugins updated regularly.
I’ve been following this since I started my journey on WordPress. And I didn’t read this anywhere on the internet. Not that I didn’t find it, but at that time, I knew it’s safer to download something that the provider regularly updates the plugin.
This will be for any plugin. And it’s easy to find. When you search for a plugin on the market. It will tell you when it was last updated. Also, if the provider is still updating it or not. It depends on how long. Because if it’s been a long time, that’s probably a sign they stopped developing the plugin. It’s important when you want to focus on how to choose the right plugin for your blog.
4. Discuss plugins with friends more frequently.
Great way to find more plugins that you didn’t know about before. Talking with friends or bloggers, in general, will help you. It’s a good way to know because some bloggers have already tested a plugin and will give you their experience with it.

You can have normal conversations with them about anything. and exchange information with each other. It will help both sides. And you can avoid plugins that have had a bad experience with them. That will be easy to determine once they share how their experience was with that plugin.
I’ve found a few plugins from other friends. Blogger friends that I follow on social media can also be a good source o find new plugins. and help you to know whether or not it’s good for your blog. Therefore, don’t avoid this one. It helps a lot with how to choose the right plugin for your blog.
Well, I mentioned “more often” and that was because there would be new plugins. Maybe your friends will find new plugins. So, talking to them more often will help you to learn about it. That’s not a problem because you guys are helping each other.
5. Monitor the plugins more often
Something that I usually like to do. even after downloading a plugin. I like to keep monitoring the plugin. Make sure that it’s still updated and that I’m still using it well. Check if everything is working from time to time.
No matter how many plugins you have, you will need to keep monitoring it. Ensure that everything is working well. And the plugin is updated to date. because some plugins would be abandoned by the provider, and that would not be good for your blog. It’s one of the important things that you need to know about how to choose the right plugin for your blog.
Conclusion: How to choose the right plugin for your blog

Too many plugins can slow your site down for sure – it’s a good idea to keep monitoring how often you actually use your plugins and then determine whether you really need them. Good post, very useful!
Yeah, we need to monitor them. Thank you for reading!
I totally agree with you. I used to have at least 4 plugins which at the beginning it looks alright, but yeah made my blog speed too slow. I guess I only have 1 left.
I see, that’s awesome. Thank you for reading!
A very informative post for us WordPress users – thank you.
A couple of observations I would make are:
1. As suggested in the post above, always do your own research when looking for a plugin. The ones with lots of downloads are not necessarily the best ones – they could just be well promoted.
2. If you like to write little snippets of code to help with your blog … you can include them in your own plugin!
This is awesome comment, thank you for reading!

I love plug-ins! They are essential for a smooth-running website. I have found that it is very important to keep them updated. I also monitor them regularly because some of them don’t work well together or hinder the performance of the site.
Yeah, they help a lot to run a blog.
It’s so hard to find the right ones that do what you want, and don’t clash with others. Plus often hosts say they cover things like caching etc, but then you get messages up on core web vitals saying you don’t have it. I’ve been using WP for 10 years and still struggle to decide which are best.
