How to make DIY crafts more fun for kids
Let’s talk a bit more about this post. What do you expect from reading this and sharing how to make DIY crafts more fun for kids? Also, what type of crafts am I talking about because there are different crafts and some of them can’t enjoy a lot with kids or family.
So, the joy of crafts is always during the process of crafting. Well, it can feel good seeing the results, but how we made it would be more important. And even better when you do it with kids or someone else. For me, I’m looking to craft with my partner when we meet.
There are some things that we do to make it more fun for kids or even for adults. I think these will be for both and we get to enjoy the moments with kids as well. We get to enjoy it with our kids or any other family member. Always remember to take care of safety first, either crafting alone or with someone else.
We can do crafting with different materials. Wood, plastic, or even cardboard. I’ve crafted a lot of projects with cardboard and paper. I think that’s the safest type of crafting for kids. How to make DIY crafts more fun for kids can be for any type of crafting except iron craft or wood. These require heavy tools to work with.
When I say kids, it should be from 10 to 18 years old. However, it still depends on the project. If it’s simple and you still need to make sure it’s safe. Don’t take your eyes off of your kid during the process of crafting. Because you don’t know what will happen.
Don’t forget to share which one of these you do. And Do you have any other thing that can make crafting more fun doing it with kids?
1-Add hand coloring
One thing that makes crafting more fun is coloring. Sometimes we avoid this by getting colored papers or sheets. That’s why I said add and that means if you don’t have a coloring step or can avoid it. I highly recommend adding this step no matter what.
If something caught your attention, let me know about the comment. Even without kids, I still enjoy doing this step. It might take time, but it’s not about finishing the project fast. However, enjoying the process of crafting. And get rewarded with the finished project. This is something also we can remember in the future.
Some projects might not have coloring steps, but I’m sure one of these things on How to make DIY crafts more fun for kids can help you. So, continue reading to see more of the list on how to make crafting more fun for kids. However, you can take time to see if it’s possible to add it.
Also, if you looking to finish the project quickly. Well, that’s ok and you can just make it fun to go through the process and get things done as quickly as possible. It depends on your choice as well. But, I recommend you don’t rush the process.
I used to color everything with my hands, but when I wanted to make the craft shorter, I started using colored papers. This is the easy and fast way. However, while coloring with kids, it would be more fun and that’s how to make DIY crafts more fun for kids.
2-Allow them to plan steps with you
This is important on the list of how to make DIY crafts more fun for kids because sometimes we forget about it. And it’s also a great way that allows kids to enjoy it even better. And I will tell you more about it, and this is from my experience with my little brother.
Sometimes when we do DIY crafts with kids, we let them do the easiest thing or maybe just watch. That’s not a good way to let them enjoy the DIY crafts. Well, it’s fun to watch or do little, but it would be more fun if the kids get to plan steps.
Give them the chance to plan the next steps. It might take time, but that’s ok. When you finish the project, it will be worth it. The kid gets to improve the skill of thinking by planning the next steps with you. Don’t rush the process and sometimes you think they won’t understand, but it’s all about the process.
As long as he is trying, he/she will get better at using their mind to plan out the craft steps and maybe even execute them perfectly. So, this will help big if you can start and let them help you with planning. Talk with them about their decisions and why they chose their plan.
You might think to give them easy ones, but it doesn’t matter. Anyway, if the kids don’t get a good one it’s ok for them to ask for another one. Maybe an easier project, however, they can try to that won’t affect any of the progress or the finished project.
3-Drawing how it should look
DIY crafts are all about the process. And whether you want to make it longer and more fun or short and just fun. Because either way, it will be good crafting. However, since we are talking about how to make DIY crafts more fun for kids,
Before you work on the step, you can let the kid draw how it should look. Maybe finished look of a piece of the project. This will help them improve their drawing skill and enjoy the process of crafting. Don’t worry how good or bad it is as long as they do it.
I think any project can have this step as long as the kids won’t do it if it’s not safe for them to craft. They can help you draw the finished look of whatever you are working on. And this will get him involved and busy with you enjoying crafting with you.
In some projects, we don’t do a lot of drawing, but you can add it even if it doesn’t require drawing. Unless you want to finish it quick. That’s ok if you want to skip it. Because this list is only for how to make DIY crafts more fun for kids. Also, remember these will make the project take longer.
You can also let them color it if possible with whatever colors you want to paint the finished look. It would feel pretty nice seeing what you drew in front of you. How to make DIY crafts more fun for kids is also about improving skills and not just making it for fun.
