Hello everyone and welcome to another blog post. Today I’m going to talk again about blogging. And I would like to focus on something important for bloggers. It’s not required unless you want to do it for your blog and readers. Here is how to improve the reader’s experience on your blog.
This is something that can allow your readers to enjoy their stay on your blog. Which can lead to more people and get tons of traffic from that. So, it has a lot more than just improving and it requires some effort from you as well.
How to improve the reader’s experience on your blog
I’ve been talking about a lot of things. And shared about so many things on this blog. However, today I would like to share tips on how can you improve your blog for your readers to have a good experience. Readers’ experiences are most important if you don’t know that.
This is for all the bloggers unless you already doing it. Then, you are all good and just ready to keep sharing more content. And remember that you don’t have to do it if you don’t want. Because it can be good but it’s not very important.
There are always new improvements for this kinda thing. And I will be adding more to this if I found new things. And I’ve done some of these in my past. However, by changing the blog theme. I lost them and kinda stopped it for now. However, I will apply them to my blog as well. I’m looking forward to such an update on the bog to make the experience for readers much better.
Some things on this list you can do while you writing the blog post. And some you can add to the blog in general. It’s easy to do, but there are also some tutorials on the internet on how to do a couple of these. So, don’t worry, you will easily do everything on this list. Therefore, how to improve the reader’s experience on your blog is going to be easy to do.
When I say on the blog. I mean exploring it in general or reading a blog post on your blog. We need to pay attention to everything. And make it as perfect as possible for anyone who reads posts or just visits the blog.
Searching, reading, and scrolling are all part of the readers’ experience. If you need to capture their attention. You will need to keep improving and improving until there is no way to improve. I don’t think we will reach that point.
1. Easy to go up button on your blog
One of the good features is that bloggers can make life easy for the readers. When there is a “Go to the top” button. Especially, if you have a long post, this will be very to allow them to go back up to the top in case need more information.
This is something I would focus on whenever I change my WordPress template. However, lately, I had to focus on other things, because I kept changing the theme a lot and kinda forget about it. It’s a good thing to have on blogs.
Well, I will probably add it anytime soon for my blog as well. Because sometimes I need it and I have to scroll up which is sometimes annoying haha. So, this should help a lot navigate to your blog going up and down faster.
As I said, it might not be so important but it will help you to make readers’ experience better. And I’m sure it will be handy for some people. Why not have it on the blog even if it’s not important, you know. How to add the go to the top button is so easy as well.
2. Let the links open on a new tab
I can see a lot of bloggers who forget about this including me. Because it’s something we might not notice or remember to do. And that’s allowing links t open on a new tab. You put a lot of links on your posts. And you don’t want the reader to click and lose the post. Then, use the go-to back button to continue reading your post.
This is something I can say that I’m guilty of but it will help the readers experience a lot. Not having to lose the post is important when the reader want to check the link and didn’t finish reading yet. So, if you want to know how to improve the reader’s experience on your blog. It can be a good thing to focus on if you are not doing it.
You can have a lot of types of readers and some of them might not like this. Therefore, it’s best to be careful and let the links open on a different tab. This way, they can still read your blog post without them leaving it when opening any link on your blog or post.
Some people don’t know that you can add this feature where you click and it opens on a new tab. Even, though I know about it sometimes I forget about it. So, by doing this you help your readers to avoid leaving your post.
3. Size of the images should be good
Well, another thing that can help with how to improve the reader’s experience on your blog is when you have good images size. Don’t make it too big or too small. Because both would make the post either ugly or not helpful at all.
For me, I like to make them not too small but good. You can see it with your eyes and don’t need to zoom in. And I think it’s good because too big is not the way to go. It will take so much space that you probably could let more text fit in.
Also, when the readers scroll down through your post. It will be half of the posts only pictures. Unless it’s infographics or something important. If it’s not, I would recommend making it small but not too small. Just for the readers to read it.
It’s good if you are looking for how to improve the reader’s experience on your blog. Especially, when reading the blog post. And it will help with load time as well. That is something important for any reader. No one wants to spend a long time loading.
You can do this as you edit the blog post. This way, you don’t need to go back and edit the pictures all over again. That’s how I usually do it and it helps me a lot to save time. How to improve the reader’s experience on your blog while you writing the blog post.
Always make sure that the size is good. Some posts can have a lot of pictures and you can’t keep them big all the time. You will need to adjust the size and make some space for text.
4. Avoid the pop-up ads or adding too many ads
I don’t think pop-ups are for blogs and I thought about it before. However, it didn’t work well for me. Because a lot of people hated it. And also adding too many ads on your posts and blog is also not good for the readers.
It’s good to make it a source of income but adding ads to every corner of the blog is not good. And by avoiding it you can make the experience for bloggers better. That’s how to improve the reader’s experience on your blog following this.
Even though it can get you more money having a lot of ads on every corner but if you don’t have readers on your post. How would you get it? And I know most of us would avoid it. However, there are still some people who would still do it.
Having a few ads in good places would be so much enough than a lot on every place on the page. You can study and test somewhere you can get the most money from and place it. This way it’s better than making it difficult for the reader to navigate and read the content.
So, you must pay attention to where you put ads and why. If you want to know how to improve the reader’s experience on your blog. This is important and can let readers leave your blog immediately if you don’t take care of it. And that means you lose traffic.
5. Organize the text well
Next how to improve the reader’s experience on your blog. Readers would love to read a well-organized text. And we need to focus on that. You need to make the paragraphs’ length good and not too short or too long.
Try to add colors to the text. For me, I have the bold dark text and normal paragraphs. But I used to add colors and each heading 1 can be a color. Well, I stopped because I didn’t have time to keep editing and adding the colors.
You don’t need so many colors as long as it’s easy to read. Add a list and subheading to your posts. This way, it can improve and make your readers enjoy it. That’s a good way how to improve the reader’s experience on your blog.
Keep your paragraphs fun to read and has variety. Readers will enjoy reading your posts and want to read more. So, not only improve but also give your readers reasons to come back. This is something I’m still working it.
Something will take time for you to develop. Therefore, you can start now and don’t expect great results fast. And it helps you little by little how to improve the reader’s experience on your blog. Spend time improving every day.
6. Good layout for mobile version
Here is another one for how to improve the reader’s experience on your blog. And I’m still working and learning more about it. Readers who use your phone are also important and we need to have a good experience for them as well.
Readers who use the phone version can also leave when your movie phone version is a mess. And I had some people telling me about the bog layout for the phone version that is not good or messy. The text is covered by sharing buttons, and issues like these are not good.
Make sure that you have a good layout and clean from such tad issues that drive your readers away from your blog. Because a lot of people use the phone nowadays and it’s important to focus on it if you are not doing it.
Check regularly for things that you need to do. If everything is going well or not. And make sure that it’s good. Maybe you do new improvements that will help you to make it even better for your readers to enjoy their stay even more.
